Valentines Day Makeup and Hairdo by Shehnaz

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and a girl loves to shop for that “perfect outfit” more than anything. Late night online shopping, crash diets and whatnot, Love Day is ever so special and that doesn’t seem to lose it’s charisma anytime soon.

Even though I am not a huge Valentine’s fan, I do admire those who take this day very seriously. And, I don’t mean just girls, but men, well they are just on another level. Gone are the days when women had to remind their other halfs only to be disappointed later. I personally know many couples where the husbands break all the boundaries of manhood and enter the planet of Mars to surprise their wives by gifting everything from makeup to even lingerie, followed by a beautiful date night for two. Now, that’s totally husband goals! It certainly is not cheesy but an extra effort to show your partner that they are missed, loved, needed and of course, very special.

Well, I guess you have certainly got your outfits well and prepped. Let me take care of the hair and makeup. Red and Valentine’s go hand in hand, so it was no-brainer to incorporate a bit of the beautiful hue in today’s look.

So, in the light of this loving spirit, I will be showing you the easiest and classic hairstyles and a feminine makeup look with neutral to warm shades so everyone can emulate it effortlessly.

To all those who are single, put on some party shoes and shine all night. This makeup look is for every woman who loves to go little bold and yet look subtle and beautiful. Valentine’s is about love, so love yourself first!

Prepping the skin:

No matter what your skin type, even before you think of applying makeup, your skincare essentials need to be taken out of the drawer and lined in order so you are able to achieve the perfect base.

Toss out and the lip balms and in with lip masks. For long night outs, dates, events, I prefer a lip treatment over lip butters or chapsticks. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is my go to. It forms a thick layer and leaves my lips soft. A fav among hundreds and thousands of bloggers and customers.

For the face, Lancomé HydraZen Gel Creme is a great pick for combination skin that is dehydrated. To avoid making my skin look dry and patchy, I applied four drops of L’Oréal Extraordinary Oil.

I am in love with BH cosmetics 26 colour blushed eyeshadow palette, trust me you will love it too if you are a fan of browns, shimmer autumnals and warm shades. I used the shimmer Rose Gold on my crease and mixing both the red and berry shades to apply all over my lids. I blended everything ever so slightly to create a very subtle smokey eye.

For my eyeliner, I used Lakme Absolut Shine Eyeliner in Black, it has become my favourite. Easy and medium size wand, turns matte once dried, allows a thin to thick winged line, affordable and comes in a perfect travel friendly bottle. What more does a girl need?

My mascara is from my favourite high end brand, Estee Lauder. It is the Volume Sumptuous Lash Multiplying Mascara in Black.

I groom my brows with any deep brown and black matte eyeshadow, love them slightly distressed and powders give a subtle defined look.

For the face, I used Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Sand Sable under my eyes, some spots and dotted on my lids. My skin is dry at the moment, so not going for a primer.

I mixed Faces Canada highlighter in Champagne with Clinique Moisture Surge CC Cream and applied all over my face. The highlighter is subtle and not shimmery while Clinique’s CC Cream is very hydrating, especially in dry winter months.

The blush is again from Faces Canada in Hot Pink, a lovely bright pink perfect for everyday flushed look as well.

To finish the look with lips, Blush On lip pencil from Faces Canada(lovely affordable brand by the way) and gloss is Reckless Bloom from Estee Lauder.

Dusting gently with L’Oreal True Match Super Blendable Powder in Rose Vanilla in the T-zone and the look is complete.

Keeping hair straight is the best hairstyle for any occasion. I like my hair natural looking and not poker straight. I begin with a fresh homemade mask that gets rid of buildup, tangles, frizz and leaves hair light and soft. For styling, MoroccanOil Original Treatment and Ceramic Hair Straightener from Trevor Sorbie is all that I need.

To add a feminine touch, I love going for the easiest braid on earth. If you want to keep your hair out of your face and do not want to end up getting a headache from heavy buns and thousand bobby pins, then this is just the perfect hairdo for you. Add some accessories to make it even more prettier.
