I love the pleated skirts all over the high street this fall, whether you decide to go for soft chiffon or a structured metallic, they’re a great addition to a feminine silhouette.

Midi skirts have always been awkward for me because I am not tall, and I like to wear shoes that add height: a pair of comfortable heels to add a touch of color, which often softens the look or Chelsea boots, which are more urban sophisticate. If you’re blessed in the height department, you can always choose pointed flats or even sneakers for a casual look. Or wear them if you want to, above all be comfortable because that is a key in carrying off any look with confidence.

I wore this metallic skirt from Boohoo (ASOS) with my orange New Look heels and this oversize top from H&M. An over-sized top in a solid, primary color like black mutes the boldness of the gold skirt so it is wearable in the daytime. I kept my accessories minimal but fun: amber studs from Betsey Johnson and a purple necklace I bought at a craft’s fair last spring

I bought this silver pleated skirt from ZARA and I have been wearing it any chance I get – and with fall quickly turning to winter I don’t have time! This top is a combined shirt from ZARA as well and my heels are from TopShop, deceptively comfortable as most TopShop shoes are but they do tend to run on the smaller side.

I wore the skirt in a more casual way on our way to a lunch by the beach. I usually shy away from slogans on shirts but I love the material of this top from Forever21 (and if you’re familiar with my blog and Instagram, you know how heavily I agree with the sentiment.)

A fun and playful look, I know I can always throw on a sweatshirt or cardigan to stay warmer. I look forward to styling and wearing more pleated, midi skirts this season and would love to know how you will be styling yours!
